CIC Newsletter Volume 4 – Learning and Culture

As an extension of their schooling in Korea, the campers attended classes in English and English communication as a means of improv-ing the way they make sense of the world through language. Language is how we communicate with others. And communicating in English is an important way to succeed in the future.

In between their learning activities, the participants had several camp tours within and outside of Metro Manila. These gave the camp-ers a fun way to have a first-hand cultural experience in the Philippines.

A Taste of Christmas – ONLY in the Philippines

As early as September every year, Filipinos already start decorating their homes and offices with pretty Christmas decorations while Christmas songs are played over the radios non-stop. There is no doubt that the Christmas Season is the most fun, colourful and highly-anticipated time in the Philippines.

It was therefore a great time for the campers to experience the joy of the Season when they arrived in Manila on December 19, one week before Christmas Day. They were surrounded by the spirit of Christmas everywhere they went. In addition, the CIC team also made sure that many fun activities were scheduled to give the campers the real taste of Christmas in the Philippines.

Christmas Day Celebration with a purpose : Aside from their Christmas Party, the kids met with the street kids from JOY FOUNDATION who entertained them with upbeat and sentimental Christmas tunes
