The AAESBC has a fully equipped professional kitchen, allowing students to learn in a practical setting. Among Canada’s Aboriginal communities there is an untapped potential to significantly increase agricultural production. In many cases good quality agricultural lands is not being utilized productively.
A reason for this is that the level of knowledge of agricultural practices, science and business is generally inadequate. The Society wants to address this need by providing good quality and accessible
education and training that will result in more successful aboriginal farms and in turn increased employment and more prosperous, self-reliant and healthy communities.
PROFESSIONAL FARMING
This program is an 11 month course designed to prepare the graduate for careers in the farming industry such as managing or assisting in the management of a production farm or livestock crops and other areas where quality food production is desired.
Along with up to date information and education about the farming industry, environment, production, and hands on experience, students are given job coaching and business skills to bring with them into the industry post graduation
PROFESSIONAL HORTICULTURE
This program is an eight month course designed to prepare the graduate for careers in the horticulture industry such as assisting in the management of work in a production Greenhouse, Turf Farm, or Farms where quality plant production is desired. Along with up to date information and education about the horticulture industry, environment, production, and hands on experience, students are given job coaching and business skills to bring with them into the industry post graduation.
PROFESSIONAL COOKING
This program is an 11 month course designed to prepare the
graduate for careers in the kitchens of restaurants, hotels, food and beverage departments, cruise ships, camps and other areas where quality food preparation is desired.
Along with up to date information and education about the culinary industry as well as hands on experience, students are given job coaching and business skills to bring with them into the industry post graduation.
