A Quick Glance of Yesterday…
I do not know where to begin. There are many things happened since I started studying here. I think I need to start from the very beginning. Let me first tell you those struggles I’ve faced before entering this Prestige University. I, Marianne Ruth Julioso, 16 years old is a fresh High School graduate from the province of Pangasinan. I was convinced by our pastor to pass my files here for the scholarship Concordia offers. Then we have gone to an interview and after a couple of months the results come. It is really a heartbreaking news for me, higher than my expectations. Fortunately, I was granted a full scholarship to this college.A free board and lodging, foods, and others that will surely benefit us, students. After knowing the results, we are given a month to prepare our things before moving to our new home- Concordia. August 10, 2014, an exact date we have moved out. We explore our new house and socialize with those new faces I saw. As a freshman, I don’t know what college life means. It is also very hard for me to complement with those strangers around me. New house, new school, new classmates and of course new experiences and knowledge to be gained. I can’t really explain how nervous I am that time. But all of those fears are wiped out when all of the staffs handed a very warm welcome to each of us.
August 11, 2014 is the start of a new life for me and for my fellow students. Some are quite excited, and some are nervous. But for me as usual, I have mix feelings of these. I feel nervous for the thought that I may encounter frightening professors and at the same time I am excited too because I know that I can surely pick a million knowledge before leaving this college. I can’t wait to start opening a new chapter in my life. I am craving for the knowledge they will feed us. I cannot wait for the time that I will be crowned as one of the pioneer students of this school. This day is very pleasant, we are toured in and out of the campus. It feels refreshing every morning to see the ambiance of it. I can feel the green scenery behind the building and exactly this is the perfect place I want to live and flourish my dreams. A dream to be an Accountant in the near future.
After several months Concordia College of Benguet, Inc. celebrated its first foundation day. Of course together with us. We held different activities such as sports, brain teasers and academics. Since I love poems and literature, I pushed myself to join the poetry writing. Luckily, I’ve got the first place. This day ends with a remarkable speech of our highly respected Mr. Husky Ryu. As a sum, I can’t forget this day for it made us a lot of fun and bonding.
First semester is already done. It was so fast that I cannot totally measure how many months since the first time I settled my feet here. And now, another semester is about to close and a new chapter is about to begin. A new beginning with new students, new experiences and knowledge to gain. Time is really fast. There is another episode to build a new friendship and stronger relationship with my Alma Mater dear, Concordia College of Benguet.
