The Concordia International University (Concordia) and the Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS) are proud to announce a credential recognition agreement that allows Concordia students to proceed to undergraduate degree. This agreement is an excellent example of two national organizations working together to serve their sector and address the needs of the industry.
In USA and internationally, the Concordia offers 1 Year and 2 Year Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). BHMS offers BA Hotel and Hospitality Management. Under the agreement, BHMS recognizes graduates of Concordia 1 Year and 2 Year Diploma in HTM to its BA year 2 or 3 program, “testifying to a comparable degree of competency and knowledge of their holders.”
More importantly, BHMS has agreed to credit transfer arrangements to Concordia students who wants to pursue their degree studies. This means that for only 1 to 2 years, a Concordia student who has earned the Diploma in HTM has an opportunity fast track their progression to BHMS BA year 2 or 3 program. This will give top hospitality and tourism graduates the international degree recognition they deserve around the world.
“Concordia is very pleased that its graduates achieving the HTM diploma credential in USA is automatically eligible for the BHMS BA degree in Switzerland,” said Dr. Charles Mercieca, Concordia International University President. “This is a ground-breaking credential recognition agreement between two organizations that provide world class degree education for the industry in North America and Switzerland. It is also an excellent example of international co-operation which benefits these highly skilled individuals and enhances recognition of their educational attainments around the world.”
“The Academic Council is very pleased with the cooperative effort in coming to this agreement,” said Dr. Charles Mercieca, Concordia International University President. “It will serve industry professionals well in both countries, bringing more profile to these credentials which both attest to an individual’s achievement of having international degree in hospitality and tourism profession.”
“The content and the program requirements of the Concordia are consistent with those of the BHMS, and it makes sense for our educational institution to recognize their curriculum,” said Dr. Anthony Erb, BHMS International Dean. “This agreement is consistent with our University’s efforts to work cooperatively with other educational institution to advance the stature of the global education in hospitality industry.”
