HELP Clark Campus: Voca Test

HELP Clark Campus will be establishing the Voca Test for all its students starting on Monday, May 05, 2017.

It aims to provide a classroom-friendly vocabulary assessments that can be used to inform instruction and to measure vocabulary growth. The test will be used as a way to gauge vocabulary development, particularly with disciplinary vocabulary. Furthermore, it will address some considerations in improving teacher-made vocabulary tests and evaluating commercially produced tests.

The kind of Voca test will be based on the student’s level and they will be recieving corresponding points or deductions depending on the results of their test.

For example, some students may be penalized for missing the test.

  • There will be P50 penalty and 5 Points deduction from student’s performance if the student didn’t take the test or was absent.
  • There will be P20 penalty and 5 Points deduction from student’s performance in case the student was absent due to an illness.

On the other hand;

  • There will be an additional 7 points on the student’s performance if the student consecutively gets a perfect score in a week.
  • There will be an additional 5 points on the student’s performance if the student gets an almost perfect score in a week (i.e. 18, 19, 18, 18, 17).

Bilding the students’ vocabulary can help them tremendously, from preparing them for standardized tests to improving their understanding of what they read. The Voca Test is the best approach for learning words and remembering them long term.
