About Alliance High School

Alliance High School, formed in 2016, as an educational institution in East Vancouver that caters to students with special needs. Professor Joseph Lee, from Concordia International University, and with his research team developed the structural academic curriculums. It is, in fact, different from the traditional education system for High and Secondary schools in Canada. The school curriculum was developed with a focus on students with attention deficit, hyperactivity, and anxiety issues. It does this by providing an inclusive environment rather than one that distinguishes struggling learners from other students (Alliance High School).

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) are physical and mental developmental disorders that are experienced by children and can persist into adulthood. ADHD and ADD are marked by symptoms of inattention, thereby leading to forgetfulness, as well as a lack of concentration and organization. Other symptoms include hyperactivity and impulsiveness (Palmer 357). Students who experience such conditions struggle to keep up with the pace of courses. Therefore, Alliance High School provides a curriculum where such students can learn at their own pace.

Alliance High School presents students with a flexible schedule which includes combining online and offline classes. The number of students taking class lectures is small and lecturers can, therefore, pay enough attention to students to make learning easier. Working with a flexible schedule helps students focus on their learning abilities, whereas the traditional Canadian system focuses solely on the number of credits accrued.

Essentially, Alliance High School is the only public entity in Lower Mainland to offer online courses. The institution is dynamic, and their system gives students a good environment to study and achieve their dreams without relying heavily on the strenuous grading system.
